It would seem that ubiquitous personal technology for minimizing human involvement in many aspects of business operations, will result in a gradual reduction of needs, and hence also the importance of interpersonal relationships in business. Meanwhile, we have recently had the opportunity to observe, also on the Polish market, growing interest in networking, the axis of which is precisely to build a lasting, valuable relationships, today seen as one of the most important pillars of business success.
Moreover, there is growing demand for specialists in this field who could help entrepreneurs in the difficult art of building relationships with other people. Networking is, to a large extent, the skillful development of a network of business contacts. With properly built and properly functioning, mutually advantageous relationships, with the right people you can greatly accelerate the development of your career or company. Once wrongly associated with doing things using your established contacts, networking has become an effective tool for business development, and often sales in the hands of professionals. Effective and well-constructed network allows faster implementation of multiple targets whether personal or business, because the unit is replaced by unit effort which is replace by the effort of a group of professionals in the desired field and a proficient networker is an increasingly sought after specialist.
Who, then, is a professional networker.
This is a person who, thanks to their business knowledge, knowledge of networking tools and extensive experience, can provide effective network support in the methodical development of valuable relationships for both the individual customer and the company based on pre-established goals. Depending on your needs this support can take many forms, from conducting a networking session organized by conferences and seminars and personnel training in the field of building relationships, from establishing an acquaintance (as well as the necessary preparations preceding the first contact) to improve the quality of relationships, coaching networking or system implementation in company sales by testimonials and much more.
How can you become a professional networker?
Here the situation is not so simple, because there is currently no college or training schools for the profession (though at business schools abroad, and recently also in Poland, there are already courses in networking). Besides, networking is more than range of skills – it is a peculiar lifestyle and the training itself is not enough. Business Networking requires many years of experience of working with people in a floodplain of professional and general familiarity of business. To achieve success in this area you should develop your verbal and nonverbal communication skills and learn the rules of building trust. It is good to have an idea of the sales, promotion, although not every networker needs to be dealer (within the meaning of profession). The ability to quickly establish relationships, typical of people who are open, pugnacious and usually extroverted is valuable, especially at the stage of building a network of contacts. This does not mean, however, that networking is an area inaccessible to people with a more subdued personality. Introverts rediscover themselves better at the stage of developing relationships and building trust. Fortunately, regardless of the type of personality, all key competencies for success in networking is possible to assimilate, provided the right attitude is there, and that is openness towards and the willingness to help others. Up to now, the networker did not appear on the list of professions, but the dizzying pace of change in the world of forces to find new, more effective ways to communicate with customers and employees and networking seems to be the appropriate response to these searches. On the market there is a place for people with high skills in the field of networking that can build an effective network of professional relationships, manage distributed teams of specialists, to express a wide network of company credo, promote valuable ideas / projects / products of network participants. These people know how to create a mutually beneficial relationship based on trust, which becomes a solid basis for fruitful cooperation between companies or institutions which, after all, always comes down to the cooperation specific people.
Networking is, to a large extent, the skillful development of a network of business contacts. With properly built and properly functioning, mutually advantageous relationships, with the right people you can greatly accelerate the development of your career or company.
