Apps in aid for the blind

New technologies support us in each branch of life. We have them at our fi ngertips… in our smartphones. Recently, browsing available apps, I found a program supporting the blind, visually impaired people and people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

4 naviS is a system consisting in the transmission of picture and sound between a user and a guiding person. Yes, currently, the application functions within the frames of guiding by „a friend” i.e. by the voluntary department. The system is aimed to make a journey safe (as described by the producer). The application is addressed mainly for people who have problems in going from point A to B but is also helpful in finding the most important things in the closest environment of visually impaired people or in finding the way home. There is an obvious question whether a person with Alzheimer’s disease will remember that has such app and will be able to use it when forgets
the way home. Maybe, Noidss company will develop an app especially dedicated to this group.
Numerous advantages of this system include also that it is able to help the blind or visually impaired people to sign agreements or even to monitor own health (ultimately, the app should be connected with e-files). The app is fully sound described what makes its operation easier. It requires a smartphone with the Internet access. The app is simple and intuitive. It’s worth recommendation to this group of users, especially that it’s a Polish company. Noidss company is from Katowice.
